807.05 Criminal Background Check
The employing agent is responsible for obtaining a criminal background check report and fingerprinting in accordance with the Ohio Revised Code, on all persons hired in any position as a person responsible for the care, custody, or control of a child. The employing agent is responsible for making sure that all persons hired in any position as a person responsible for the care, custody, or control of a child, have submitted all of the proper forms to the Chancery Office in accordance with the Archdiocesan Decree on Child Protection. No school shall employ a person who previously has been convicted of or pleaded guilty to any of the offenses listed in ORC 3319.39(B). Employment in the school is conditional, pending the receipt of a “cleared” criminal background check report from the State of Ohio and “clearance” from the Chancery Office in accordance with the Archdiocesan Decree on Child Protection. Only when both clearances are received is employment considered finalized, and the employee may begin working with children.
If you are only volunteering in the school, you must do a background check through SELECTiON.COM, our background check provider. Because your background is being checked electronically on a quarterly basis, you are now able to volunteer / work anywhere within the Archdiocese of Cincinnati.
A.3 Policy – All candidates for volunteering, and employment must attend the training program approved by the Archbishop on this Decree before they have contact with children. This program is Virtus. Virtus is an initial 3.5 hour program on sexual misconduct. Employees and volunteers must keep their account active and stay current on their monthly bulletins to continue employment and to volunteer.
